Ever wondered what CATS is truly about? Or which character is the main character? Here are a few opinions from me
and other fans. Please note that there is no right and wrong answer when it comes t CATS usually. There isn't much to work
from, besides poems by TSE, and even then they don't tell us to much about character information (this doesn't apply as much
to characters such as Mistoffelees or Jennanydots).
Grizabella has been well known as the main character, but some think Munkustrap is. I personally
think that each character plays an improtant part and the play couldn't be complete without them.
I personally think that they want to choose a very specail cat to go to the heavyside layer. And they dance and celebrate
to see which they think deserves to go and be reborn and which need to stay for the sake of the Junkyard. Which is of course
grizabella that goes to the heavyside layer.
Many people think that Macavity is the next to go up. That would be very neat. Some suggest Gus or Deuteronomy, just
because both are old characters and deserve to be reborn.

CATS takes place on the night of the Jellicles ball where Jellicle Cats meet once a year to find
out who of their tribe will have the chance to go up to the heavyside layer and be reborn into a new Jellicle life. Old Deuteronomy
the revered Jellicle leader, makes the ultimate decision.
There is is a bit of a surprise when part way through act one, Grizabella the Glamour Cat reappears
after a long adsence from the tribe. She's been living the high life and there is a lot of resentment that she us back- especailly
on the night of the Jellicle ball! there is also potentail disaster when evil Macavity abducts Old Deuteronomy. The ball is
only saved by Magical Mr. Mistoffelees. who returns the leader to the tribe with his special blend of magic. Exuberant and
enchanting, CATS is live theatre at it's finest- enjoy the show.
